Cara Delevinge: “Modeling is a bit of a Nightmare”

You really couldn’t go to a single show this season without seeing Cara Delevingne on the runway. She was in so many places at once that there was even some speculation that she might secretly be two people. Anyway, somehow she found the time to do a spread in this month’s Interview magazine, and talked some more about her acting and singing aspirations, which she discussed with British Vogue last month as well. See, she’s getting a bit tired of this modeling stuff, not that we can blame her. In her words:

Left foot, right foot, left foot, right foot … That’s all that’s on my mind at the moment, just walking — it’s mad. This modeling thing, it’s pretty easy, but actually it’s also really tough. I mean, this has been really tough. That’s the most embarrassing thing about it, like, “This walking thing is crazy.”

Oh? She elaborates:

I think when I started modeling three years ago, it was just a job, and I was so excited — everything was so new, so crazy. I didn’t overthink anything; I just did it and enjoyed myself along the way. But after a few seasons, you get used to it, and there’s a lot you actually have to think about, and, I don’t know, it just makes you much more aware of what you look like and what other people think. It’s a bit of a nightmare.

And such is the truth about any job: Even the most glamorous of occupations gets to be a slog after a while, and no matter how many free clothes you get, at the end of the day all you want to do is collapse naked on the floor with a cigarette. At last, an aspect of modeling we can all relate to.
